A record of 171 submissions have been registered for the 30th Edition of the Malta Journalism Awards, which will be held in a month’s time. All main media houses in Malta are represented in these awards.
The Human Interest Story of the Year category tops the chart with the largest number of submissions – 31. Other categories with a substantial amount of submissions include Photography – Open: 16; Audiovisual News/Current Affairs: 13, Photography News/Current Affairs:13; Specialised News: 13; Feature:13; Investigation of the Year: 10. Three or more submissions were registered in all 16 categories that were open for nominations, as a change in the regulations following a consultation process resulted in a record number of submissions.
The submissions were presented in front of two panels of judges that were assigned a set of categories each to make their adjudication. The nominations that score the highest points in each category will be revealed during the final ceremony on Saturday 14th November 2020.
A seperate board of judges has been appointed to evaluate the submissions made for this year’s Gold Award. The board will be chaired by H.E. President Emeritus Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.
Criteria for the Gold Award can be accessed on: https://igm.mt/2020/09/21/maltajournalism-awards-30-rules-and-regulations/
The final ceremony will be broadcast live on TVM2, tvm.com.mt and on several social media platforms.
