Sportman and Sportwomen of the year presented with coveted trophies

Eightball Pool player Dejan Grech as the Sportsman of the Year and international football player Haley Bugeja as the Sportswoman of the Year were presented with the trophies won in this year’s edition of SportMalta Awards Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali. The presentation was held at the Auberge de Castille, cordially invited by the Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela and Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Volunteering, Sport and Recreation Dr Clifton Grima in the presence of part of the Malta Sports Journalists Association’s Executive Members. Prim Minister Dr Robert Abela said that such awards reflect the commitment, professionalism and sacrifice that these athletes do on a daily basis. Jingħataw it-trofej tal-Isportiv u l-Isportiva tas-Sena

Fil-Berġa ta’ Kastilja, fil-preżenza tal-Prim Ministru Robert Abela, tas-Segretarju Parlamentari għall-Isport, ir-Rikreazzjoni u l-Għaqdiet Volontarji Clifton Grima, kif ukoll ta’ parti mill-Kumitat Eżekuttiv tal-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports, ingħataw it-trofej lill-plejer tal-Eightball Pool Dejan Grech bħala r-rebbieħ tal-Isportiv tas-Sena, u lill-plejer internazzjonali tal-Futbol Haley Bugeja bħala l-Isportiva tas-Sena. Dan hekk kif il-61 edizzjoni ta’ SportMalta Awards Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali ma setgħetx issir bħas-soltu, fil-preżenza ta’ bosta sportivi, minħabba l-Covid-19. Il-Prim Ministru Robert Abela ppreżenta t-trofej liż-żewġ sportivi u qal li dan l-unur jixhed l-impenn, il-professjonalità, u s-sagrifiċċju li jagħmlu ta’ kuljum. The winners of the 61st edition of the SportMalta Awards Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali finally get hand on coveted trophies

Recently some of the winners of the 61st edition of the SportMalta Awards Għażliet Sportivi Nazzjonali could get hand on the coveted trophies. The presentation was held in presence of the last edition’s sponsors at the Malta Sports Journalists Association’s office. The 61st edition was a unique one due to the Covid19 pandemic situation, with a virtual ceremony thus without finalists and guests. The follwing trophies were given: Sports Team of the Year – MALTA NATIONAL FEMALE FOOTBALL TEAM (Football) Sports Coach of the Year – DEVIS MANGIA (National Men Football Team Coach) Sports Official of the Year – JOSEPH MUSCAT (General Secretary Malta Basketball Association) People’s Choice Award  - MARK MARLOW (President Malta Employees Sport Association) Special Olympics Male Athlete Award – MARK SERGE (Ten Pin Bowling) Special Olympics Female Athlete Award – KLARA ZAMMIT (Open Water Swimming).
