Nick Mercieca jirbaħ l-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħ tax-Xahar għal Diċembru

Nick Mercieca ngħata l-unur tal-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħ tax-Xahar għal Diċembru. Nick Mercieca flimkien ma’ Kurt Farrugia, iż-żewġ para qaddiefa tas-Siġġiewi Rowing Club, stabbilixxew rekords dinjija ġodda fl-Indoor Rowing għall-500m fil-kategoriji rispettivi tagħhom, waqt il-Kampjonati Nazzjonali ta’ Qdif Indoor ta’ Malta. Nick Mercieca kkompeta fil-kategorija tal-irġiel fl-età ta’ bejn il-15 u s-16-il sena PR1, fejn spiċċa l-500m fi 3 minuti 9.6 sekondi, l-ewwel rekord dinji li qatt ġie rreġistrat għal din it-tellieqa. Din hija l-ewwel darba li Rekords Dinjija ġew stabbiliti f’Malta waqt il-Kampjonati Nazzjonali tal-Qdif fuq ġewwa jew minn atleti Maltin. Fix-xahar ta’ Diċembru, Nick kiseb żewġ rekords dinjija oħra, li għadhom qed jiġu verifikati mill-World Para Athletics. Minkejja li għandu spina bifida, kundizzjoni li ma tħallihx juża riġlejh, Nick Mercieca jipprattika wkoll il-calisthenics, il-weight training u l-karate. Duplantis and Putellas chosen as Best European Athletes by AIPS Europe

For the first time in his career, athletics leading pole-vault figure for 2022, Swedish ARMAND DUPLANTIS - was chosen as the European Sportsman of the Year by journalists from 43 AIPS Europe national associations. ALEXIA PUTELLAS , the Spanish football player , for the second time in her career was chosen as the 2022 European Sportswoman of the Year. This was the second consecutive time for Putellas on winning the title from AIPS Europe. Armand Duplantis was followed by the two French football players Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema. Alexia Putellas was followed by Italian Alpine skier Federica Brignone and British football player Mead Bethany. Armand Duplantis u Alexia Putellas magħżula bħala l-Atleti Ewropej tas-Sena mill-AIPS Europe

Għall-ewwel darba fil-karriera tiegħu, l-atleta Żvediż tal-pole-vault, li kiseb suċċess kbir fl-2022, ARMAND DUPLANTIS, ġie magħżul mit-43 assoċjazzjoni nazzjonali affiljata mal-AIPS Europe, bħala l-Atleta Ewropew tas-Sena. Il-plejer tal-futbol Spanjola ALEXIA PUTELLAS, għat-tieni darba fil-karriera tagħha u għat-tieni sena konsekuttiva, ġiet magħżula bħala L-Atleta Ewropea tas-Sena mill-AIPS Europe. Armand Duplantis kien segwit miż-żewġ plejers tal-futbol Franċiżi Kylian Mbappe u Karim Benzema. Alexia Putellas ġiet quddiem Federica Brignone (Apline Skier) u Mead Bethany (Football). Din hija l-40 darba li l-AIPS Europe qed tagħmel din il-votazzjoni annwali. L-AIPS Europe hija l-ikbar fergħa kontinentali tal-AIPS, imwaqqfa fil-Kungress tal-AIPS li kien sar f'Milano Marittima fl-1977. Alexia Putellas and Lionel Messi win 2022 AIPS Athletes of the Year award

Spanish football star Alexia Putellas and Argentinian World Cup winner Lionel Messi have been named AIPS Athletes of the Year for the 2022 edition. This results from a poll by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), where a panel of 420 journalists from 113 countries including journalists from Malta voted for the Champions of 2022. After having reached second place in the 2021 edition, Alexia Putellas established herself as the winner of the award for the first time. She scooped first place with a total amount of 452 points collected. Second place has been reached by American Swimmer Katie Ledecky with 295 points, with Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas in third place with 243 points. By establishing himself as one of the most prominent champions of all time in football and all sports, the Argentinian star scooped first place in this year's edition with a total amount of 962 points collected.
