The Executive Committee of the Malta Sports Journalists Association together with all its members pay tribute to Charles Mock, who passed away earlier today at the age of 85 years. Charles Mock played water polo for various years and coached various clubs in Malta. He was a member of the Malta Sports Journalists Association for many years, as he was very keen on sports journalism. In the past, Charles Mock worked in the media sector with different stations, mainly radio stations, where he covered not only water polo but also local and international football. The Malta Sports Journalists Association Sends its condolences to Charles Mock’s family. Further details about the funeral will be announced by Mock’s family at a later stage.

Mireya Cassar ingħatat l-unur tal-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħ tax-Xahar għal April.   Ta’ 19-il sena, Mireya Cassar mhux biss kisret ir-rekord nazzjonali tal-hammer throw għal tliet darbiet waqt l-istess kompetizzjoni, iżda saħansitra qabżet il-50 metru, b'tefa' proprju ta’ 52.50 metru. Cassar kisbet dan ir-riżultat waqt it-tieni Challenge Meeting organizzat minn Athletics Malta fit-trakka tal-Matthew Micallef St John Stadium fil-Marsa. B'dan ir-riżulat, Cassar, kisret ir-rekord nazzjonali fl-erba' kompetizzjonijiet li ħadet sehem fihom din is-sena, inkluż tlieta barra minn xtutna, fejn b’kollox irnexxielha ttejjeb ir-rekord b’aktar minn 5 metri. Fl-istess kompetizzjoni Cassar rreġistrat ukoll rekord ta' taħt l-20 sena fix-shot put. Dan ir-riżultat ikompli jawgura tajjeb għal Cassar fl-iżvilupp atletiku tagħha. Cassar mistennija tkun waħda mill-atleti li tirrappreżenta lill-pajjiżna fil-Kampjonati tal-Atletika tal-Pajjiżi ż-Żgħar li se jsiru proprju f'pajjiżna f’Ġunju li ġej. Mireya Cassar has been awarded the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for the month of April. At the age of 19, thrower Mireya Cassar broke the hammer throw national record three times in the same competition and went beyond the significant 50 metre milestone, with an impressive 52.50 m throw. Cassar was competing at the second Challenge Meeting hosted by Athletics Malta at the Matthew Micallef St John Stadium in Marsa. This result meant that Cassar broke the national record for four times in the four competitions she has taken part in, three of which took place abroad. In total, she improved her record by almost five metres. The five-star performance in Marsa for Cassar was completed with another record, this time in the shot put in the Under 20 category.
