TGS Malta Fair Play Award

The Malta Fair Play Movement announced the second TGS Malta Fair Play Award in conjunction with the Malta Sports Journalists Association and sponsored by Together Gaming Solutions. Local Paralympic athlete Antonio Flores has been awarded this second award covering the April-June 2021 period. After years of intensive training, Antonio Flores was bound to be part of the athletes' contingent for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. It resulted that he had suffered an injury, which if not recovered in time, would mean that the place for athletics would remain vacant with no Malta participation. However, in view of the situation, Antonio Flores took the tough decision to forfeit his Tokyo 2020 participation, in order that another athlete could be registered in time. Il-Malta Fair Play Movement ħabbar it-tieni TGS Malta Fair Play Award b’mod konġunt mal-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports u sponsorjat minn Together Gaming Solutions. Il-paralimpiku lokali Antonio Flores ġie mogħti tieni premju għall-perjodu bejn April u Ġunju tas-sena 2021. Wara snin ta’ taħriġ intensiv, Antonio Flores kellu jkun parti mill-kontinġent tal-atleti fil-Logħob Paralimpiċi ta’ Tokjo 2020. Sadanittant Flores weġġa’ u jekk ma kienx se jirkupra fiż-żmien stipulat, kien se jirriżulta li l-post tal-atletika jibqa’ vakanti u Malta ma tkunx rappreżentata f’dawn il-logħbiet. Kien hawn li Antonio Flores ħa d-deċiżjoni iebsa li jċedi postu mill-edizzjoni ta’ Tokjo 2020, sabiex atleta ieħor Malti jkun jista’ jiġi reġistrat minfloku. Following the official launch of the Malta Fair Play Movement, the Standing Committee formed by Joe Borg Cardona, Kevin J Azzopardi, Pierre Cassar, Dr Adele Muscat and chaired by Charles Camenzuli, have announced the first TGS Malta Fair Play Award in conjunction with the Malta Sports Journalists Association and sponsored by Together Gaming Solutions. Zurrieq FC Futsal have been awarded the first award covering the January - March 2021 period. The act of sportsmanship by Zurrieq FC Futsal occurred in the league match held on the 23rd of January 2021 against St. George’s, after they allowed the opponents to score to compensate for a goal they had scored when one of St. George’s was injured on field of play. Zurrieq FC Futsal ġew mogħtija l-ewwel premju għall-perjodu bejn Jannar u Marzu tas-sena 2021. Il-ġest altuwistiku min-naħa ta’ Zurrieq FC Futsal seħħ waqt logħba tal-kampjonat tal-futsal lokali fit-23 ta’ Jannar 2021 kontra St. George’s, wara li ħallew lill-avversarji jiskurjaw biex jikkompensaw għall-gowl li skorjaw waqt li plejer ta’ St. George’s kien imweġġa’ fil-court. Hemm ukoll vidjow fuq il-midja soċjali li jiddokumenta dan il-ġest. Il-premju ġie preżentat lill-Head Coach Alexei Saliba u l-Vice-Captain Luke Bugeja ta’ Zurrieq FC Futsal li kienu preżenti dakinhar li seħħ il-ġest altruwistiku.
