Philippa Busuttil wins the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for October 2023

Philippa Busuttil, who is 15 years old, is the first Maltese gymnast to secure a medal at the Comegym Junior Mediterranean Artistic Gymnastics Championships. This prestigious event was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, between the 20th and 22nd October 2023 and featured gymnasts from the Junior National teams of Italy, Türkiye, Egypt, Algeria, Cyprus, and Jordan.

The highlight of her performance came on the Balance Beam, where Philippa delivered a solid routine, resulting in a silver medal placement with less than 0.4 points separating her from the top position.  

The trophy for the October 2023 Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month together with a sports apparel voucher were presented to Philippa Busuttil by Robert Micallef, Chief Commercial Officer of Atlas Insurance. The Malta Sports Journalists Association was represented by the Administrator Stephen Azzopardi.

This award is a joint initiative between the Malta Sports Journalists Association and Atlas Insurance. The adjudicating panel of this award takes note of all the youth athletes’ achievements during the month under review and at the same time it invites local sport associations and federations to send in their nominations for consideration if they feel that any of their under-21 athletes have distinguished themselves during that month.

Philippa Busuttil, li għandha 15-il sena, hija l-ewwel ġinnasta Maltija li rebħet midalja fil-Comegym Junior Mediterranean Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Dan l-avveniment prestiġjuż sar f’Istanbul, fit-Turkija bejn l-20 u t-22 ta’ Ottubru li għadda, bil-parteċipazzjoni ta’ atleti mill-Italja, t-Turkija, l-Eġittu, l-Alġerija, Ċipru u l-Ġordan.

Philippa Busuttil kellha prestazzjoni mill-aqwa fuq il-Balance Beam u kisbet il-midalja tal-fidda b’0.4 punti biss ‘il bogħod mir-rebħ tal-midalja tad-deheb.

It-trofew tal-Atlas Atleta Żagħżugħa tax-Xahar għal Ottubru 2023 flimkien mal-voucher t’abbiljament sportiv abbinat ma' dan il-premju ġew ippreżentati lil Philippa Busuttil minn Robert Micallef, Chief Commercial Officer ta’ Atlas Insurance. F’isem l-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports kien hemm preżenti l-Amministratur Stephen Azzopardi.

Dan il-premju ta' kull xahar jingħata b'inizjattiva konġunta bejn l-Għaqda Ġurnalisti Sports flimkien ma' Atlas Insurance. Il-panel li jiġġudika r-rebbieħa ta' dan il-premju jieħu nota tas-suċċessi miksuba matul dak ix-xahar u fl-istess ħin jistieden lill-assoċjazzjonijiet u federazzjonijiet sportivi sabiex jibagħtu n-nomini tagħhom. In-nominati li jiġu evalwati jridu jkunu taħt il-21 sena.
