Everything is set for the first edition of VisitMalta Cup that is going to take place on Saturday 10th August, in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; a match between Tottenham Hotspur and the German team of Bayern Munich.
Earlier this year, in March, the Malta Tourism Authority advised that there was a deal with the English club of Tottenham Hotspur, for the VisitMalta Cup to be organised for the first time. The main aim of this cup is to increase the flow of sports tourism, both from United Kingdom as well as from other countries.
Present in London, on the eve of the match between Tottenham and Bayern Munich, the management of the Malta Tourism Authority together with the Chief Executive Officer, Carlo Micallef, said that the main aim is to make use of football to attract more quality tourists to Malta, especially during Winter months. Micallef added that the emotions involved in a football match paved the way for increased audiences and great visibility of the Maltese product, in all ages.
The match between Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich is the last friendly match for both teams, before the start of the domestic leagues.
In fact, the first official job of Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, is going to take place on Monday, 19th August, where at 21:00, they are going to play away against Leicester City, whereas Bayern Munich will make an official opening of the season, with a match valid for the DFP Pokal against the Bundesliga 2's team SSV Ulm 1846.
The match between Tottenham and Munich also means the first time return of the English Captain Harry Kane, in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, who had joined Bayern Munich from the same Tottenham at this same time, last year. The relationship between these two teams is considered good, with Kane not being the only player that was transferred between the two clubs.
Undoubtedly, both the Greek coach of Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postecoglou, and the Bayern Munich’s Belgian coach, Vincent Kompany, are going to make use of this game to give the last touches to the team, before the start of a long and busy season.
